In RE this half term we have been learning about the story of Rama and Sita and how their homecoming is celebrated by Hindus all over the world during the festival of Diwali also known as the Festival of Lights.
We had a great time doing Diwali dancing, tasting special Diwali food and even had henna patterns on out hands.

In year 6 the children have been learning about the life and artwork of the artist L. S. Lowry.
We have been inspired by his amazing work and recreated some wonderful pieces of his art ourselves.
Some children painted an activity they enjoyed at Robinwood in the same style as Lowry’s paintings.

In Year 5, we have enjoyed working with scientists from the Regional Science Centre in Oldham. By conducting fair tests, we have explored and learned about different types of forces.

Florence Nightingale

We have been learning about Florence Nightingale this week and how she improved the hospitals when she was sent to help in the Crimean War. Some of us wrote about it, some of us looked at a photograph and talked about it adding labels, some of us made a hospital in the provision.

Year 1 have been working hard in maths this week using the symbols + and = to write and solve number sentences.

We’ve also been making our own number lines and thinking where the numbers we chose would go.

Ancient Greek Day

On Monday, Tony North visited our class and we had a brilliant day learning more about the Ancient Greeks.  In the morning, we worked together to build a model of the Parthenon.  In the afternoon, we rehearsed a Greek Myth and then we performed it for Year 5.  We all had a fantastic time and Year 5 enjoyed watching us perform.
