Thorp Primary School

Year 1

Welcome to Year 1

Our class teacher for the 2022/23 academic year is Mrs Grayson. Our teaching assistant is Mrs. Poole (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday).

In Year 1, we cover many exciting topics to enhance children’s knowledge and understanding in-line with The National Curriculum 2014. British Values also underpin our curriculum.

Our key topic areas this year are:

Autumn Term 1 - Which toys would my Grandparents choose today?

Autumn Term 2 - Who was Florence Nightingale and why do we still talk about her today?

Spring Term 1 - Why can’t a penguin live near the equator?

Spring Term 2 - Why can’t a penguin live near the equator?

Summer Term 1 - Where do and did the wheels on the bus go?

Summer Term 2 - What is the History of Thorp School?

PE

We will have our PE lessons on a Tuesday and these will be taught by Mr. Muzyka. It is essential that children remember to bring their PE kit in on a weekly basis.

Homework

Homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be returned to school by the following Tuesday. Homework will include: English, Maths, Spellings, Reading and Times Tables Rock Stars.

If you would like any more information about our class, please do not hesitate to contact us via the school office.
