Thorp Primary School

Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

Our class teacher for the 2023/24 academic year is Mrs Buckley.  Our teaching assistant is Mrs Carroll.

In Year 6, we cover many exciting topics to enhance children’s knowledge and understanding in-line with The National Curriculum 2014.  British Values also underpin our curriculum.

Our key topic areas this year are:

Autumn Term 1 - Why has Brazil got one of the world’s fastest growing economies?

Autumn Term 2 - Was there a struggle for power between the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons for the Kingdom of England?

Spring Term 1 – What is it like to live in the desert?

Spring Term 2 - How did the Maya civilisation compare to the Anglo-Saxons?

Summer Term 1 – What was life like in Tudor England?

Summer Term 2 -  Where does our energy come from?

We will have our PE lessons on a Friday.  It is essential that children remember to bring their outdoor PE kit in on a weekly basis.

Homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be returned to school by the following Tuesday.  Homework will include: English, Maths, Spellings, Spelling Shed, Times Table Rock Stars, Active Learn and reading my reading book to an adult at home.

If you would like any more information about our class, please do not hesitate to contact us via the school office.
