Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

Our class teacher for the 2023/24 academic year is Mrs Buckley.  Our teaching assistant is Mrs Carroll. 

In Year 6, we cover many exciting topics to enhance children’s knowledge and understanding in-line with The National Curriculum 2014.  British Values also underpin our curriculum. 

Our key topic areas this year are: 

Autumn Term 1 - Why has Brazil got one of the world’s fastest growing economies?

Autumn Term 2 - Was there a struggle for power between the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons for the Kingdom of England?

Spring Term 1 – What is it like to live in the desert?

Spring Term 2 - How did the Maya civilisation compare to the Anglo-Saxons?

Summer Term 1 – What was life like in Tudor England?

Summer Term 2 -  Where does our energy come from?

PE

We will have our PE lessons on a Friday.  It is essential that children remember to bring their outdoor PE kit in on a weekly basis.

Homework

Homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be returned to school by the following Tuesday.  Homework will include: English, Maths, Spellings, Spelling Shed, Times Table Rock Stars, Active Learn and reading my reading book to an adult at home.
