Thorp Primary School

Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

Our class teacher for the 2022/23 academic year is Mrs Buckley.  Our teaching assistant is Mrs Smith-Walkden

In Year 6, we cover many exciting topics to enhance children’s knowledge and understanding in-line with The National Curriculum 2014.  British Values also underpin our curriculum.

Our key topic areas this year are:

Autumn Term 1 - Why was the Islamic Civilization (around 900AD) known as the Golden Age?

Autumn Term 2 - Why has Brazil got one of the world’s fastest growing economies?

Spring Term 1 - Were the Vikings always victorious and vicious?

Spring Term 2 - Where will Route 66 take me?

Summer Term 1 - Will Planet Earth survive mankind?

Summer Term 2 - Why should we remember the Maya?

PE

We will have our PE lessons on a Friday.  It is essential that children remember to bring their PE kit in on a weekly basis.

Homework

Homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be returned to school by the following Tuesday.  Homework will include: English, Maths, Spelling, reading and Times Tables Rock Stars.
