Year 2 Welcome to Year 2

Our class teacher for the 2025/26 academic year is Mr Gooding.  Our teaching assistant is Mrs Poole.

In Year Two, we cover many exciting topics to enhance children’s knowledge and understanding in-line with The National Curriculum 2014.  British Values also underpin our curriculum.

Our key topic areas this year are:

Autumn 1 - How have explorers changed the world? 

Autumn 2 - What is a Monarch?

Spring 1 - What makes our world wonderful?

Spring 2 - What is it like to live by the coast?

Summer 1 - What lit London in 1666 ?

Summer 2 - Would you prefer to live in hot or cold country?

P.E.

We will have our P.E. lessons on a Friday afternoon.  It is essential that children remember to bring their outdoor PE kit in on a weekly basis.  This term the children need their indoor P.E. kit for gymnastics.

Homework and spellings

Homework will be sent home at the start of each half term. It includes nine fun and varied activities covering subjects like P.E., English, Maths, Science, and other areas of the curriculum. Homework should be completed and returned every Friday.

We also encourage children to read regularly at home and use Times Tables Rock Stars and Spelling Shed to practise their spellings and improve their times table speed and accuracy.
