Our class teacher for the 2025/26 academic year is Miss Fairbrother. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Wheeler
In Year Six, we cover many exciting topics to enhance children’s knowledge and understanding in-line with The National Curriculum 2014. British Values also underpin our curriculum.
Our key topic areas this year are:
Autumn 1-Was there a struggle for power between the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons for the Kingdom of England?
Autumn 2 - How did the Maya Civilisation Compare to the Anglo-Saxons?
Spring 1 - Why has Brazil got one of the world’s fastest growing economies?
Spring 2 - Where does our energy come from?
Summer 1 - What was life like in Tudor England?
Summer 2 - Why does population change?
PE
We will have our PE lessons on a Monday. It is essential that children remember to bring their outdoor PE kit in on a weekly basis.
Homework
In Autumn, Homework will be sent home at the start of each half term. It includes nine fun and varied activities covering subjects like P.E., English, Maths, Science, and other areas of the curriculum. Homework should be completed and returned every Friday.
In Spring, we change to weekly tasks in Maths, Spelling and English.
We also encourage children to read regularly at home and use Times Tables Rock Stars and Spelling Shed to practise their spellings and improve their times table speed and accuracy. We also set LBQ tasks.
Key Dates and Events
Our Class Dojo page is regularly updated with key dates, important announcements, and useful information. It’s the best way to stay connected and stay informed about everything happening in school.Curriculum Overview
